Free Canner Testing Available through Cooperative Extension

With spring and summer’s bountiful harvest right around the corner, it’s time to begin thinking about the accuracy of your dial gauge pressure canner.  The Tyrrell County Cooperative Extension Center located at 407 Martha Street in Columbia, will have a Free Canner Testing Day on Thursday, May 17 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.  Bring in your canner lid only, clearly marked with your name and phone number.  The canner lid will be tested for pressure accuracy and thoroughly inspected to insure its safety for your use.  Our equipment tests gauge dials only, not the jiggler type.  For more information, contact Dee Furlough at the Extension Center at 796-1581or dee_furlough@ncsu.edu.
