Jack L. Swanner, Sr.

Mr. Jack Laverne Swanner, Sr., age 72, a resident of 155 Donna Avenue, Vanceboro, died Thursday evening, May 24, 2018, at his home.
A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2018, at Oakdale Cemetery. Jack Swanner, Jr., Kevin Swanner, Jeremy Swanner, Harrison Daigle, John Daigle and A.P. Swanner will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Swanner was born in Beaufort County on July 25, 1945, son of the late Asa Garfield Swanner and Georgia Dale Swanner. He attended Chocowinity High School. Mr. Swanner worked in electrical construction until his retirement in 2005. He also owned Eagles Nest Campground in Vanceboro. Mr. Swanner attended Vanceboro Tabernacle Holiness Church.
He is survived by two sons: Jack Swanner, Jr., of Washington, and Kevin Swanner and wife Kimberly, of Vanceboro; a daughter, Donna Daigle and husband John, of Greenville; his brothers, Wilbur Swanner, of Vanceboro, and A.G. Swanner, of Washington; his sisters, Joyce Eakes, of Vanceboro, and Lois Toler, of Washington; his grandchildren, Jeremy Swanner, Kaelyn Swanner, Alivia Daigle, Harrison Daigle and Chay Daigle; and his long time dear friend, LaDonna Kite, of Cove City. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Swanner.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
