Pets of the Week: June 2, 2018

Published 11:28 pm Friday, June 1, 2018

During the month of June adoption rates for cats and kittens are reduced at the Shelter. This is made possible by the Humane Society of Beaufort County. For more information, call HSBC at 252-946-1591.

Those interested in adopting a pet should inquire at the Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Control Facility, 3931 U.S. Highway 264 East, from 1 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturdays. Because of overcrowded conditions, the animals listed are only available as indicated.

All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To see more animals available for adoption, visit, visit ENC Shelter Dogs, ENC Shelter Cats and Washington Cat Rescue on Facebook or call 252-946-4517 for more information. The Humane Society of Beaufort County can also be found on Facebook at

Requests for more information with regard to the animals appearing in Pets of the Week may be directed to shelter staff in person at the shelter during business hours or by emailing — always use the animal’s ID number.

Please note, the shelter is closed on the first Wednesday of each month for cleaning and maintenance.

Sweet, friendly, and oh, how she wants to be loved — that’s Ethel. She’s listed as a large, approximately 12-year-old, black, female, Plott-Hound mix. People-loving Ethel needs owner(s) with lots of love to give her, plus attention, exercise suitable for her age — she still has pep in her step — in a fenced area or on a leash and nutritious food. She deserves a good, loving forever home where she will be a faithful companion and pet. Come spend a little time with Ethel, ID No. 0597, and see for yourself what a wonderful dog she is. She’s available at the shelter.

Handsome and friendly and already neutered, that’s our Cloudy. He’s an approximately 2-year-old, all black, medium-size, American longhair boy with a gorgeous plume of a tail. A truly great cat with a playful nature, Cloudy loves to clown around, roll over and get tummy rubs. Because Cloudy is already neutered, he’s ready to leave after his reduced fee is paid. Come meet Cloudy, ID No. 0679; you’ll be glad you did. He is available at the shelter.
