Joyner Delon Tetterton III

Joyner Delon Tetterton III, known and loved by all as JD, 59 passed away in Richmond, VA surrounded by his family on Monday June 11, 2018 after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

JD was born on November 9, 1958 to Joyner Delon Tetterton, Jr. and Doris (Keech).

He is survived by his loving wife Karen Tetterton.

Parents: Doris and Chris Parker.  Joyner D. Tetterton, Jr. (proceeded in death)

Children: Jonathan Tetterton, Jason Tetterton – wife Cynthia, Caitlyn Tetterton, Kacie Tetterton, and Jake Poff.

Siblings: Vanessa Tetterton Wagoner (proceeded in death), Tony Tetterton-wife Charlene, Terry Tetterton-wife Alyssa, Toby Tetterton-wife Karen, Darlene Richards-husband Kevin, Rod Wagoner-wife Evelyn.

Best friend and “brother from another mother” Brian Ellis-wife Tina.

Many Uncles, Aunts, Nieces, and Nephews.

Graduated class of 1977 Pungo Christian Academy, member of the basketball and baseball team.

JD enjoyed and excelled in his 35 plus year career in the Food and Beverage industry.  His career begun at his family owned business at Hub’s Wreck in Belhaven NC.  Next venture, the family owned The Carolinian Hotel, Nags Head, NC where he met his wife Karen in 1979.  JD furthered his career as a district manager for Old Country Buffett and Golden Coral. He won numerous awards to include a Ford Mustang.  JD built many lifelong friendships throughout his career.

JD never met a stranger and went out of his way to help anyone in need. He was loved by all that met him and got to know him.  He is regarded as everyone’s favorite, brother, uncle, cousin, and best friend.

He enjoyed the Baltimore Orioles games at Camden yards, golfing, fishing, boating, waterskiing, grilling, and going to the beach. His favorite past time was listening to music sitting by the fire.  He kept everyone entertained by telling stories of past adventures with his family and friends.  JD was known by all for his quick wit and humorous stories.  He left a lasting impression on all that were blessed by his presence.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 4pm at the home of Toby and Karen Tetterton 118 Catnip Point Bath, NC 27808.
