Mrs. Wilma Lyon Lewis, age 81, a resident of Thorn Hill, Tennessee, and formerly of Blounts Creek, died Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, Knoxville, Tennessee.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018, at Pamlico Memorial Gardens officiated by David Linton. Brian Lewis, Charlie Shane Lewis, Rex Zurby, Dylan Baker, Sylas Jones and Terry Keys will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Lewis was born in Smith County, Kansas, on Feb. 20, 1937, daughter of the late Alton Fay Lyon and Ethel Spurrier Lyon. At an early age, she joined the Congregational Church of Athol, Kansas. In 1955, she married Kenneth Wade Lewis. They were married for over 50 years before he preceded her in death. They operated the Captain’s Retreat Tavern in Blounts Creek for 20 years. Mrs. Lewis also held a real estate license, worked as an accountant and bookkeeper as well as a homemaker while raising her daughters. She loved gardening, flowers and volunteered for years with Girl Scouts.

She is survived by her two daughters, Vickie Lewis Jones of Edward, and Toni Marie Lewis of Thorn Hill, Tennessee; her granddaughters, Rhonda Jones and Sabrina Jones, both of Edward; her great-grandchildren, Dylan Baker, Loveanna Moore, Sylas Jones and Destiny Keys; her brother, Dale Lyon, of Smith County, Kansas; and sisters, Helen Bridgewater, of Highland, California, Betty Eller and husband Paul, of Boulder, Colorado; sister-in-law, Roma Lyon, of Colorado Springs, Colorado. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Dean Lyon, who was killed while serving his country during World War II, Arven Lyon, Eldon Lyon and half-brother Lloyd Sloniker.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Flowers are welcome or in lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
