Mattie B. Rodgers

Mattie Elizabeth Beacham Rodgers, age 86, a resident of Pactolus, went to be with her savior Friday, June 29, 2018, at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at Pamlico Memorial Gardens and officiated by Phillip Paul. Pallbearers include Junior Mizell, Jody Mizell, Kevin Ortiz, Gage Mizell, Dillon Mizell and Greg Beacham.

Mrs. Rodgers was born in Beaufort County on May 9, 1932, to the late Roy R. Beacham and Isolene Bailey Beacham. On Sept. 2, 1950, she married Dallas Rodgers. Mrs. Rodgers retired from Belks in Washington after 30 years. She was a member of Tranter’s Creek Church of Christ and taught Sunday school. Mrs. Rodgers loved to cook, bake and garden. She was a beloved homemaker who was dedicated to her family.

Her family includes her daughter, Vicky Rodgers Mizell and husband Jerry, of Washington; three grandchildren, Jerry “Junior” Mizell and wife Robbin, Elizabeth Mizell-Ortiz, Jody Mizell, all of Washington; six great-grandchildren, Kevin Ortiz, Gage, Dillon, Joseph, Dane, and Ivey Grace Mizell.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Rodgers; a granddaughter, Melony Mizell; and five brothers, Clyde, Vernon, Marvin, Alvin “Snooks” and Clifton Beacham

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2018, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.

The family expresses a tremendous amount of gratitude to the loving staff at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home.
