Frank Ole Szymeczek

Frank Ole Szymeczek, 90, of 112 Trailview Dr, Cary NC, died Saturday, July 28th, 2018.  A Mass of Christian Burial with interment of ashes in the Columbarium will occur at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church at 804 High House Rd on Friday, 8/3 at 11am. A visitation will begin at 10am in the gathering space at St. Michael prior to the Mass and a reception will follow Mass in the Parish Center. All are welcome.

Memorials may be made to St. Michael the Archangel Catholic School at 810 High House Rd, Cary NC 27513. Please note the donation on the check memo line.

Frank was born November 29, 1927 in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Lawrence and Jadwiga (née Kosinska) Szymeczek. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Suzanne Beuret Szymeczek; daughters Sophia and Caroline (Skip); sons Steve, Jim (Beth), and John (Sonja); grandchildren Emily (George), Catherine (Samuel), Mary Johnna (Joshua), Mary Anne, Matthew, Suzy, Elizabeth, Sarah, Mary Catherine; great grandchildren John, Magdalen, Will, Kayla, Julian, Hannah, Amelia, and Penelope.

He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers; John, Joseph, and George, as well as six sisters; Mary, Annie, Veasha, Katherine, Frances, and Rose.

Frank was a member of the Greatest Generation, drafted into the Army of the United States at 17 years of age, serving from 1945 until 1947 including occupation of mainland Japan post VJ Day. Upon his Honorable Discharge and courtesy of the GI Bill, he graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Forestry.  At ISU, he was a proud member of the Iowa Beta Chapter of the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. Following graduation, Frank began his career in the wood products industry, working 38 years with Weyerhaeuser Company.

Frank was dedicated to the Church, his family, and his career. His family never missed Mass, nor a meal.
