Mrs. Laurel Cherry Ambrose, 71, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2018. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Macedonia Christian Church in Williamston. Burial will immediately follow at Woodlawn cemetery.

Laurel, born and raised in Washington, was a 1966 graduate of Washington High School. After living in Elizabeth City for a number of years, she finally settled down in Williamston. A proud member of the United States Army, Laurel received the National Defense Service Medal. After completing her service to her country, she worked as a waitress and cashier for R & C restaurant for several years. She was a longtime member of Macedonia Christian Church.

Preceding her in death is her brother, Lindy Cherry. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Wilbur D. Ambrose.

Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.
