Mr. Ernest William Williams, 71, of Jamesville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 13, 2018.

Mr. Williams was born in New Tazewell, Tennessee. He was a graduate of Johnson Bible College in Knoxville, Tennessee. He ministered at Alvin Christian Church in Alvin, Illinois. In 1978, he came to Poplar Chapel Church of Christ in Jamesville, and there would stay for 34 years until his retirement in 2012.

Mr. Williams enjoyed the fellowship at preachers’ meetings that he attended, and he was instrumental in starting a Bible study at Jamesville High School. He also loved to sing.

He is survived by a son, Aaron, of Jamesville; and a sister, Betty Sewell, of Russiaville, Indiana. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty; parents, Anne Lee Jacobs and Mose Harrison Williams; and his sister, Patty Williams French.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Macedonia Christian Church in Williamston. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Church on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Poplar Chapel Church of Christ NEW building fund.
