You see Laughing Gulls (Leucophaeus atricilla) all around the Outer Banks, including Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge. The gull in the photo took only three bites to dispatch its crabby meal. You’ll often hear the loud, laughing call of this gull species before you see it.
