Lucinda P. Smith, age 59, from Dover, passed away Saturday, August 25th, 2018 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

From her birth in Norfolk, VA on August 3rd, 1959 to her death, Lucinda always encompassed her family, community and students with unconditional love, support, and faith. Her passion in life was simple and shined through when she was taking care of her family and her beloved students. Lucinda, or better known as Mrs. Lu, strived to show God’s love and grace to every student and all others that were a part of her and her family’s life.

Her contagious spirit will be missed and honored by her husband of 35 years, Albie Smith, son Barrie Smith and wife Ashley, daughter Laurie Andrews and husband Dexter, and her mother Barbara Brown.

The Smith family would like to extend gratitude to all people and churches in and outside of the community for the heartfelt prayers, visits, and care.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Cotten Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Wintergreen FWB Church in Cove City. She will be laid to rest following the service in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers and to honor Lucinda’s generous heart, the family requests that donations be made to the Wintergreen Free Will Baptist Women’s Auxiliary.
