From Tyrrell-Dare County FSA

The Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program, reauthorized by the 2014 Farm Bill and administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Farm Service Agency, provides financial assistance to producers of non-insurable crops to protect against natural disasters that result in lower yields or crop losses, or prevents crop planting.

Sept. 1 is the deadline for oyster producers to protect their production with an amount of loss exceeding 50 percent of expected production at 55 percent of the average market price for the crop.  If you are interested in coverage, please contact your local Farm Service Agency before the deadline.  Dare County producers should call the Columbia office at 252-796-3701 and set up an appointment for more information and coverage.  If you can not reach anyone at the Columbia office, call the Washington County FSA office at 252-791-0108.
