Mrs. Donna Peed Bennett, age 58, a resident of Chocowinity, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2018, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

A graveside funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, officiated by Rev. Henry Horne. Pallbearers will be Evan Peed, Stephen Peed, Wilson Peed, David Wayne, Jr., Cody Cordon and Harold Tyson, Jr.

The family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 3, 2018, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home of Donna’s mother, Shirley Deal, located at 145 Carawan Road, Chocowinity.

Donna was born in Beaufort County on Sept. 17, 1959. She is the daughter of Shirley Dixon Peed Deal and the late Richard Dewitt Peed, Sr. She was a 1977 graduate of Chocowinity High School and continued her education at Beaufort County Community College. On July 25, 1992, she married Douglas M. Bennett. Donna was a dedicated homemaker who had worked as a bus driver for Chocowinity Primary School. She was a member of Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church of Chocowinity.

She is survived by her husband, Doug; her son, Todd Gaskins and his girlfriend, Kayla Perdue, of Chocowinity; and her mother, Shirley Peed Deal, of Chocowinity; her siblings, Sonja K. Lane (Al), of Richmond Hill, New York, Rhonda P. Taylor (Randy), of Chocowinity, Richard D. Peed, Jr. (Kristen), of Washington, and Mark S. Peed (Carrie), of Chocowinity; a stepdaughter: Sherry Langley, of Washington; six grandchildren, Cheradyn, Grace, Landon, Bently, Paisly and Traner Gaskins; and two step-grandchildren, Chad Langley and James Bennett; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Donna was predeceased by two children, Amanda Gaskins and Steele Bennett; her father, Richard D. Peed, Sr.; her stepfather, Bryan Dea;l and her grandparents, Mamie and Wilson Peed, and Isabel and Charlie Dixon.
