Mr. Robert Henry “Bobby” Lilley, Jr., age 71, a resident of 1057 Free Union Church Road, Pinetown, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, at his home.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, at Free Union Free Will Baptist Church, conducted by Pastor Tony Parrish and Lloyd Edwards. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens, Washington.

The following will serve as active pallbearers: Mitchell R. Lilley, Jr., Brett L. Lilley, Justin Elks, Justin Lilley, Billy Neil and Lawrence Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dwight Ainsley, Gregory Waters, Lloyd Edwards and Bobby Whichard.

Mr. Lilley was born in Beaufort County on Feb. 13, 1947. He was the son of Beatrice Mae Cuthrell Lilley Woolard and the late Robert Henry Lilley, Sr. He worked as a retired heavy equipment mechanic for over 51 years. Mr. Lilley owned and operated Robshall Diesel with his brother for several years. In his younger days, he enjoyed going to the drag strip. In his spare time, Mr. Lilley enjoyed fishing and working around the house. He loved helping his customers.

In 1979, Mr. Lilley married the former Betty Mae Patterson, who survives.

Surviving with his wife, are his mother, Beatrice Mae Cuthrell Lilley Woolard, of Pinetown; three sons, Robert Wayne Lilley, of Pantego, Mitchell Ray Lilley, Sr., of Washington, Jeffery Lee Lilley and wife Angela, of Washington; three grandchildren, Brittany Lilley Elks and husband Justin, Brett L. Lilley, Mitchell R. Lilley; brother, Marshall Lee Lilley and wife JoAnn, of Pinetown; sister, Virginia Ainsley and husband Dwight, of Washington; stepson, Kenneth C. Raynor, of Beuna Vista, Colorado, and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his father, Mr. Lilley was preceded in death by a stepson, Jerry Wayne Raynor.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Free Union Free Baptist Church and other times at the home.
