Mr. W. Roger Mills, 82, of Greenville, passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, at 7 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 6 p.m. until the funeral hour.

Roger lived most of his life in Pitt County and was a graduate of Grimesland High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis and retired from E.I. Dupont after 38 years of service. Roger was a member of the Grimesland Masonic Lodge #475, the Sudan Shriners, the Desert Rats and was active in the Pitt County Shrine Club. He was also a member of Salem United Methodist Church. He loved spending time outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, J. Elbert and Undine Mills, and brothers, Harold and Dan Mills. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Brenda Mills; daughters, Toni Gail Edwards, of Grimesland, and Brenda Mills Carpenter and husband, Larry, of Bath; sons, Roger Mills, II and wife, Cathi, of Chapel Hill, and Edward Rogers of Beaufort; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Becky Underwood and husband, Woody, of Greensboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.
