Belhaven Electric Department recognized for safety

BELHAVEN — ElectriCities of North Carolina recently recognized the Town of Belhaven’s Electric Department for exceptional safety in 2017. Belhaven’s Electric Department had no lost work day cases in 2017.
Woodie Wilson, senior safety and training specialist with ElectriCities, made the presentation to Electric Utility Director Aaron Kennedy and Mayor Ricky Credle.
“We have a small department, but they cover a lot of territory,” Belhaven Town Manager Lynn Davis said. “I think it speaks very highly of our employees.
Davis went on to say that the Belhaven Electric Department serves approximately 1,400 customers on a monthly basis.
ElectriCities is a membership organization including public power communities in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. ElectriCities also provides management services to the state’s two municipal power agencies – North Carolina Municipal Power Agency Number 1 and North Carolina Eastern Municipal Power Agency.
