From Beaufort County Emergency Services
Beaufort County shelters are not designed for special needs patients.
A special needs shelter has been opened in Goldsboro. Special needs would include individuals with special medical needs beyond taking prescription medication such as, patients needing daily procedures, dialysis, airway issues, oxygen administration, etc. We are working closely with BATS to assist with transportation for ambulatory (walking or wheelchair mobility) special needs individuals to the Goldsboro shelter.
If you are a special medical needs county resident that will need to evacuate, please call Beaufort County Special Needs Hotline at 252-940-6517 before 1 p.m. today. Non-ambulatory special needs patients should contact their non-emergency transport company for assistance with transportation.
