PLYMOUTH — Olive Respess Hassell, 97, of Plymouth died Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at Roanoke Landing in Plymouth.

Born July 8, 1921 in Beaufort County she was the daughter of the late John A. Respess and Della Boyd Respess and was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Leroy Hassell; sisters, Nora R. Sullivan, Cottie R. Whitley and Essie Respess; brothers, Cecil Respess, Johnny Respess, Joseph Respess and Benard Respess. Olive was a homemaker and member of Plymouth Church of Christ and served in the Myrtle Williams Ladies Aide.

Her family includes her daughters, Greta H. Barber and husband Bobby and Wanda H. Williams and husband Dennis both of Plymouth, N.C.; sons, Gene R. Hassell and wife Linda of Columbia, N.C. and Gary L. Hassell and wife Susan of Raleigh, N.C.; twenty one grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Plymouth Church of Christ with Jay Hardison officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Saturday at the church following the service and other times at the residence of her daughter, Greta.
