Matthew Norfleet Knight, 95, of Sunbury, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018, at his residence in Sunbury.

Born Aug. 26, 1923, in Beaufort County, he was the son of the late Daniel Watson Knight and Lena Harris Knight and was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Gray Stotesberry Knight; brother William Knight and son-in-law Shirley Zane Clifton. Mr. Knight was a retired Church of Christ Minister serving for 45 years and was a member of Wenona Church of Christ.

His family includes his daughters, Charlotte Knight Clifton of Sunbury, North Carolina, and Nancy Knight Gaddy and husband Hugh, of Elizabeth City; sisters, Margaret K. Harris, of Pinetown, and Eileen Massie, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; brothers, Dan Knight, of Lugoff, South Carolina, and Lindsay Knight, of Newport; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Wenona Church of Christ with Phillip Alligood officiating. Burial will follow in the Davis Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Wenona Church of Christ.
