Kelly L. Burgess, of Suffolk, Virginia, passed away on Oct. 15, 2018, while a patient in Nansemond Pointe Convalescent Facility. He was born Aug. 28, 1923, in Washington, to the late Will and Maggie Goddard Burgess.

Early in his life, Kelly was a member of St. Luke Church of Christ; Disciples of Christ. He attended the public schools of Beaufort County and graduated from P.S. Jones.

He met and married Viola Dent Burgess, who preceded him in death. His memory will be cherished by Michael Henson and his wife, Debra, of Suffolk, Virginia; two grandchildren, Gabriela and Michael, Jr.; many other relatives and friends.

A service celebrating his life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, St. Luke Church of Christ; Disciples of Christ, 1281 South Asbury Church Road, Washington. The interment and military honors will be rendered in the Burgess Family Cemetery, 5751 River Road.
