On Oct. 19 the Tyrrell County Sheriff’s Office served a criminal summons on Carl L. Willis, 72, of Columbia, Sheriff Darryl Liverman reported. 

Willis was charged with misdemeanor littering by dumping the carcass of a deer onto the property of another person on Oct. 15. 

His district court date is Nov. 6.

Willis, a retired state wildlife officer, is vice-chairman of the Tyrrell County Board of Commissioners and chairman of the county ABC board.
