Clyde Lynwood Rouse, age 68, a resident of 1735 John Small Avenue, Washington,  passed peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, at Washington Assembly of God, officiated by Daniel Haskett. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 p.m. until the service hour at the church.
Lynwood was born Feb. 18, 1950, in Lenoir County the son of the late William Clyde Rouse and Erma Lambert Rouse.
Lynwood was a loving son, brother, father, husband and friend. There was nothing he could not do and was a true perfectionist. He spent many years working as an auto-body technician, where he perfected his trade. While owning his own repair shop, he was able teach his talents to many, but was very proud of the two special men, Clarence “Junior” Chadwick and his nephew, Herman Lynn Davis, who continue to carry on his legacy. Lynwood enjoyed spending time with his loving wife, children, grandchildren and friends. He loved taking trips to the mountains with his wife, enjoyed a good meal with anyone, endless hours of shopping and daily calls with his best friend, James Tanner.

Even at an early age, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and over the years became captivated with a Harley Davidson. The passion for Harleys shared between him and his son, Sam, held a special place in his heart.

He was one of the most giving and selfless individuals you would ever meet. Natured like his Mama, he always had a listening ear and gave the best hugs that could fix anything. Throughout his wonderful life, he has touched, inspired, loved and been loved by so many. Stories shared by friends and family are a true testament to his character as the man we all loved and adored. He will truly be missed, however, memories we all shared with him will live in our hearts forever.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Brandy Nobles for her exceptional care and professionalism, along with the staff of Community Hospice.
Lynwood is survived by his wife, Debbie Sheppard Rouse, of the home; two daughters, Lisa Rouse Daniels and husband Charles, of Deep Run, and Bridget Rouse, of Kinston; a son, Clyde Lynwood Rouse Jr., “Sam,” of Potters Hill; two stepchildren, Brandy Edwards and Jesse Skinner, both of the home; two sisters, Erma Lee Smith and husband Roger, of Pink Hill, and Annette Rouse Herring and husband Jeff, of Deep Run; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Meghan, Tyler, Hailey, Kameron, Hunter and Ashlyn; and two step-great-grandchildren, Cheyenne and Jaxson. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Opal Delois Rouse and Eunice Ray Smith, and three brothers, Rom Rouse, Ronald Rouse and William Paul Rouse.
