Dalton Ray Alligood, Sr.

Dalton Ray Alligood, Sr., 80, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at his home on Broad Creek Road. He was born to the late Annie Irene Waters and Alton Gray Alligood in Beaufort County. He is also predeceased by his daughter, Vicki Shannon Belthoff, and brother, Joseph David Alligood. He was a planner for PCS Phosphate. He retired in 1998 after 26 years of service.

Dalton is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Ann Fisher Alligood; sons, Dalton Ray “D.R.” Alligood Jr. and wife Katie, and Christopher Gray Alligood and wife Holly; daughter, Dawn Watkins; grandchildren, Kevin Todd, Jessica Lauren, Cody Gray, Rhett Hamilton, Rhys Fisher and Rhynn Marie Alligood and Jason and Ashley Belthoff; great-granddaughter, Makayla Leigh Kirk; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dalton was an avid sports fan. He coached in the Little Tarheel League and Jr. Babe Ruth for many years. He also helped coach at Bath Elementary, with his son, Chris, for several years. He enjoyed going to games at Bath and Northside High School, working in his yard and mowing with his John Deere lawnmower.

Dalton’s celebration of life will be Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Hillside Funeral Home, with Tony Krantz and Morgan Harris officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at Hillside. Please post condolences on www.hillsidefunerals.com.
