Rehoboth Church Preservation Society is pleased to announce that a special Veterans Day program will be held on Sunday, November 11, at 3:00 p.m. in the church at 15700 Highway 32 North, Roper, near the old Pea Ridge “Y”.

This Veterans Day is especially memorable as it is the one hundredth anniversary of the signing of the armistice that ended World War I.

We will have a patriotic program that includes Denny Biggs, Commander of Creswell American Legion Post 391, who will provide a short address.

Bob Waters, who retired from the 440th Army National Guard Band in 2014 and has played with various symphony orchestras, including the National Symphony Orchestra of Washington D.C., will be providing patriotic music for the program.

Bob, a resident of Tyrrell County, plays a variety of instruments, including the hammered and mountain dulcimer, autoharp, banjo, and Cajun banjo.  Anyone who attended our May program heard his beautiful music then.

A reception, either on the grounds or in the church, will immediately follow the program.

Letters of invitation have been sent to the three Veterans posts in Washington County. Commanders Denny Biggs of American Legion Post 391, Creswell, Bobby Brown of American Legion Post 164, Plymouth, and Eugene Sawyer, VFW Post 4023, Plymouth will share the invitations with members of their posts.

If you are a veteran, but not affiliated with a post, we extend a warmest welcome to you as well.  If you know a veteran, please pass along our invitation.  We welcome all veterans, their families and anyone else from Washington County or our neighboring counties to join us for this very special program t o celebrate the men and women who have served to protect our country. We are indebted to all veterans for their service.
