A graveside funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, at Pamlico Memorial Gardens, officiated by Curtis White and Jim Cullen. The family will be at the home of her daughter Sandra Dupree, located at 473 Blackbeard’s View, Bath.
Mrs. Boyd was born in Beaufort County on Dec. 21, 1921, the daughter of the late Almond Warren and Elizabeth Wilkerson Warren. She enjoyed her life as a farmer’s wife, working alongside her husband, Jatha E. Boyd, who preceded her in death in 1985. Mrs. Marie often worked in her garden, and she also enjoyed fishing, camping and horses. But most of all, her family was the closest thing to her heart — she loved them and especially enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and all her many friends.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Dupree and husband Claude, of Bath; two sons, Lane A. Boyd, of Bath, and Halston R. Boyd and wife Glendia, of Bath; six grandchildren, Teresa Boyd, Sherri Boyd, Selena L. Rouse and husband Allen, Thomas Charles Little III and wife Tonya, Cindy Burke and husband Mike, Dalmon Boyd, Jr. and wife Robin; seven great-grandchildren: Alex Rouse, Justin Little, Steven Warren and wife Samantha, Matthew Warren, Elizabeth Boyd, Isaiah Boyd and Caroline Boyd. She is also survived by her loving friend, Glenn Asby, and her caregivers, Tammy Equils and Sally Tetterton. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Dalmon Boyd; daughter-in-law, Lois A. Boyd; sister, Sybil McGowan; brother, Fenner Cox; and grandson, Craig Boyd.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center c/o 1209 Brown St., Washington, NC 27889 or the charity of one’s choice.
