Nora Thomas Houston Dixon, 83, of Vanceboro, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018.

The funeral service will be conducted Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, at 3 p.m. in Juniper Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Dixon, a native of Beaufort County, had been a resident of Vanceboro for more than 60 years. She had worked as a seamstress, a bank teller and for Craven County Social Services and Craven County Schools. She was later employed by Carolina East Medical Center in insurance billing until her retirement. She continued sewing regularly for her family and friends through this past October. She was a member of Juniper Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and was an active member and former vice-president of the Ladies Auxiliary.

Mrs. Dixon was preceded in death by her husband, EuGene Dixon; her parents, Laird and Nora Daw Houston; son, John “Johnny” Dixon; and son in-law, David Mills.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Dixon Mills and Rosiland “Possie” Dixon Buck and husband Danny, and son, Jeffery Dixon and daughter-in-law Tammie Dixon-Phillips, all of Vanceboro; eight grandchildren and12 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Juniper Chapel FWB Church Ladies Auxiliary, 655 Piney Neck Road, Vanceboro, NC 28586.
