Laurice “Teeny” Wayne Mason

Laurice “Teeny” Wayne Mason, age 82, a resident of Bath, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at Hillside Funeral Service, officiated by Kent Gurganus. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 p.m. until the service hour. A family visitation will also be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, at Mr. Mason’s home located at 135 S. Main St., Bath.
Teeny was born in Bath, NC on December 27, 1935 the son of the late Andrew Jackson Mason and Nettie Smith Mason. He was a graduate of Bath High School. Teeny served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He married Geneva Davis, who preceded him in death. Mr. Mason was the manager of Heilig-Meyers Furniture where he worked for 30-plus years, until his retirement. He loved fishing, crabbing and enjoyed being around people. Teeny was well known for his neighborhood gatherings and entertaining his many friends. His family was the most important part of his life, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Teeny is survived by a daughter, Beverly Mason Smith and Joey, of Belhaven; two sons, David Mason and Deidra, of Bath; Scotty Mason and Beverly Paul, of Bath; stepson, Brian Bartholomew; stepdaughter, Susan Turner; two sisters, Gracie Mason, of Bath; Janice Davis, of Belhaven; brother, Jack Arliss Mason, of Bath; six grandchildren, Jeremy Foreman, Jenna Smith, Bethany Smith, Gregory Mason, Ginny Mason, Jackson Mason; and seven great-grandchildren, Zane Foreman, Gabe Foreman, Andrew Foreman, Cora Jayne Foreman, Callie Mason, Brynn Mason and Blake Mason. Along with his wife, Geneva, he was preceded in death by a brother, Andy Mason, and three sisters, Faye Scheffus, Janice L. Mason and Jackie Mae Mason.
