The National Weather Service has updated their forecast to include the following, according to Beaufort County Emergency Services:
- The snow line has shifted east to include the U.S. Highway 17 corridor. There are still some uncertainties regarding snowfall locations / totals, and there is a potential that this line may shift slightly eastward still. Current models indicate that the western edge of our county could see up to 1 inch of accumulation.
- A Coastal Flood Advisory has been issued for Beaufort County. Water levels along the Pamlico River and adjacent waterways are expected to be 1 to 2 feet above ground level.
- Gale Warning have been issued for coastal waters, sounds and rivers.
Please take time today to make any necessary preparations in advance of this storm, particularly in areas adjacent to waterways. (ie. ensure boats at float are properly moored, remove or secure outside items prone to wind or flooding, etc.)
Our office will continue to monitor this system and pass along any changes that may develop.
