A cast of performers from LifeQuest Inc. will present an original Christmas program this Thursday and Friday.

“Rescued by Christmas” will be performed Thursday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., and Friday at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. The show will be performed in the Transitions Theater at LifeQuest, located at 230 East Eighth Street in Washington (site of the former Washington High School).

“The cast says it’s more than a play, it’s a production,” said Adam Congleton, the show’s author and director as well as LifeQuest program director. “We have live animals so it’s kind of a big undertaking.”

The show runs approximately one hour and LifeQuest is partnering with Covenant Church of Washington for lighting and sound, Congleton noted.

LifeQuest Inc. is a psychosocial rehabilitation day program geared for adults. The facility is operated by Tim and Angie Hardison.

“Rescued by Christmas” features a cast of 35 to 40 individuals. Admission is free but donations benefiting Paws for Wellness, a pet rescue organization for cats, will be accepted.

“This is a story about overcoming fear and finding hope,” Congleton said. “It’s about a guy who is finding his way and who is inspired by the Biblical story of Christmas.”

LifeQuest has performed a seasonal production for about 13 years, according to Congleton. Audiences of 600 are expected for the four performances.

“Our purpose is to create something that’s for everybody at Christmas, something that’s encouraging and meaningful,” Congleton said. “And this show provides our members the opportunity to give back and to display some of the confidence they’ve gained in being here.”

Crafts created by LifeQuest members and staff will also be offered for sale before and after each show. Proceeds generated will go back into the programs offered by the facility.

In addition, the LifeQuest thrift shop is open to the public each Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon. Merchandise includes clothing, collectibles, books, jewelry, toys and household items.
