Ruby M. Respass

Mrs. Ruby Pearl Midyette Respass, age 71, a resident of 5437 N.C. Highway 99 North, Pantego, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, at her home.

A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington.

The family will receive friends at her home, Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, and following the service at the funeral home on Saturday.

Mrs. Respass was born in Washington on June 9, 1947. She was the daughter of the late Merlin Alfred Midyette, Sr. and Eloise Keech Midyette Webster. Mrs. Respass graduated from Pantego High School. On Dec. 12, 1965, she married James Durwood Respass, who survives. She supported her husband’s Air Force career and traveled to Italy and over much of the U.S. Later, Mrs. Respass worked at Donnelly Marketing. She was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness congregation in Pantego. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Respass was known for her friendliness, spirit, laughter and kindness.

Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Jennifer Respass, of Pantego, Lori R. Finley and husband Jay, of Pinetta, Florida; grandchildren, Samantha Kirk, of Raleigh, Ashley K. Tant and husband Robert, of Raleigh, Tyler Futrell, of Pantego, Brian Hubers, of Pantego; great-grandchildren, Ellilot Tant, of Raleigh, and unborn Tant baby due in February 2019; brother, Merlin Alfred (Al) Midyette and wife Kathy, of Free Union; sisters, Linda M. Dillon, of Joppa, Maryland, Nola M Dunbar and husband Alston, of Pantego.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Respass was preceded in death by an infant brother, Merlin Alfred Midyette, Jr., and a sister, Betty M. Tate.
