Walter Joseph Young, 79, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving wife and three daughters on Dec. 22, 2018. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Nora Therese Moloney Young and Walter Lincoln Young. After serving in the U.S. Navy, Walt entered the business world at the dawn of the computer age. He also had an entrepreneurial spirit that allowed him to own several businesses, the last being Subway. Retiring in his fifties, he traveled the world for 20 years, happily settling at Pamlico Plantation and enjoying his passions for woodturning and golfing with friends at the Washington Yacht & Country Club.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 56 years, Theresa (Terry) Young; daughters, Patricia Coffie and husband Greg, Elizabeth Fasano and husband Ralph, and Melissa McCabe and husband Michael; grandchildren, Krysta and Kayla Messier, Gabriella and Alexandra Fasano, Ethan and Ayden McCabe and Colin Coffie; sister, Therese Beckwith and many special nieces and nephews.

Walt’s funeral service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Washington. Entombment will follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens. A luncheon will then be hosted at the Pamlico Plantation Clubhouse. Post condolences on hillsidefunerals.com.
