Englebertha “Bertha” Agnes Krnavek Harding

Englebertha “Bertha” Agnes Krnavek Harding, age 95, a resident of Chocowinity, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019, at her home.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at Harding family cemetery on Harding Lane in Chocowinity and will be officiated by Jason Kirkman and Kent Gurganus. Pallbearers include her grandsons and great-grandson, Chad Hewitt, Kenny McConville II, Tyler Harding, George Jones, Gabe Grissom, David Harding, Wes Whitley and Craig Harding.

Mrs. Harding was born in Pharr, Texas, on Dec. 31, 1923, to the late Henry Joe Krnavek and Agnes Elizabeth Jasek Krnavek. She attended catholic school in Texas. On Dec. 20, 1945, she married Clarence McCoy Harding who preceded her in death on June 14, 1999. Mrs. Harding was a hard-working woman who loved being outside, working in the flower garden, riding the golf cart, fishing and traveling, especially to visit her sister Hattie Unland and her niece Kandy Cox and other family in Texas. She was a member of Haw Branch Church of Christ.

Survivors include her two sons, Henry Harding and wife Gale, of Chocowinity, Kelvin Harding and wife Wendy, of Chocowinity; a daughter, Katie Jones, of the homeplace; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jane Grissom; two brothers, Englehart Krnavek, Isidore Krnavek; a sister, Hattie Unland; a great-grandchild, Logan Jones; and several half siblings.

The family will receive friends at the home of her son, Kelvin Harding, at 1519 Edwards Road, Chocowinity.
