Ernestine Laughinghouse Woolard

Mrs. Ernestine Laughinghouse Woolard, age 86, a former resident of Woolard Avenue, Slatestone community, Washington, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington, conducted by Marty Alligood. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens, Washington.

The following will serve as pallbearers: C.H. Wallace, Elgin Wallace, Mike Caton, Allen Walker, Dennis Boyd and Mitchell Waters. Donnie Woolard will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Mrs. Woolard was born in Pitt County on Dec. 21, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Fernie and Helen Laughinghouse. Mrs. Woolard was a homemaker. She was a member of Rosemary Church of Christ and a past member of the 76er’s Homemaker Club. In her spare time, Mrs. Woolard loved visiting and going to Bojangles.

Mrs. Woolard was married to Russell Vaden Woolard, who preceded her in death in 1997.

Mrs. Woolard is survived by two sons, Terry Woolard and his wife, Terry, of Washington, Dwight Lane Woolard (Monica), of Cary; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Woolard was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Laughinghouse, and a sister, Peggy L. McLawhorn.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington.
