Living for a century

Dr. Olena Swain Bunn (center) celebrated her 100th birthday in Greensboro with her sisters Mary Kate Daniels of Virginia Beach, Va., (left) and Alberta Elliott of West Hartford, Connecticut, her son David of Santa Paula, California, and nieces and nephews. Dr. Bunn, retired professor of English Literature at Greensboro College, was born Feb. 3, 1919, to Herbert and Olena Swain at 206 North Water Street in Columbia in the Spanish Flu epidemic that claimed the life of her aunt in the same house two days later.
