Mrs. Joyce Ann Wilson Brooks, CEO/President of Golden Way Home Care, age 74, a resident of Washington, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, peacefully at her home.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019, in the chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington, officiated by Rev. David Thompson and Rev. Carolyn Helms. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Brooks was born in Lenoir County on Oct. 3, 1944, to Larry Paul Wilson and Annie Lee Stilley Wilson. On June 17, 1962, she married Clifton Scott Brooks, Sr. She was a founding member of Peace Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in 1976. She was a loyal member to her church and loved her church family.

Mrs. Brooks, along with her sister, Sue, started Golden Way Home Care in 2002. She always had a love to care for others and all her employees. She led Golden Way with unparalleled leadership, with great passion and much “Pizzazz.”

Mrs. Brooks enjoyed spending time with her friends, going to the beach and socializing with a special group of friends: Linda Brooks, Leytha Mobley, Faye Fulford, Beverly Benton, Betty Hill and Terry Conway.

Survivors include her husband, Clifton Scott Brooks, Sr., of the home; a daughter, Teresa Purser and husband William, of Whispering Pines; a son, Clifton Scott Brooks, Jr., of Petersburg, Virginia; four grandchildren, Brent Purser, Alex Purser, Chandler Purser, Mallory Purser; and a sister, Sue Wilson, of Greenville.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the funeral hour Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home, 113 Cedar Lane, Washington.

The family would like to offer their appreciation to Community Hospice, her dear friends Amy Brewer and Brandy Nobles, RN, for their professional support.
