For expecting parents navigating pregnancy for the first time, the process can quickly become overwhelming. For 32 years, Coastal Pregnancy Center has offered resources to help make that process a little less daunting, and the Christian nonprofit is gearing up for its annual Celebration of Life Banquet on April 11.

The Honorable Judge Regina Parker will serve as keynote speaker for the event.

From free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds to evidence-based education and supplies for new and expecting parents, the CPC’s mission is to help new parents find positive outcomes and parenting skills.

“We are a faith-based nonprofit, but the majority of our parenting classes, especially when it comes to childcare and pregnancy, we use only evidence-based material,” CPC Executive Director Susie Rollins said.

Partnering with local health agencies, the CPC scheduled more than 800 client appointments in 2018 alone. While the agency seeks to provide sound advice during pregnancy, clients can continue to receive support and education well after the baby is born.

In 2018, the CPC distributed:

  • 19,391 diapers
  • 3,666 articles of baby clothing
  • 974 pieces of baby equipment
  • 623 baby blankets/linens
  • 485 baby toiletry items

The 10th-annual Celebration of Life Banquet will be held beginning at 6:30 p.m. on April 11 at First United Methodist Church in Washington. Reservations can be made at www.coastalpregnancycenter.org or by phone at 252-946-8040. The cost is $30 per person and table sponsorships are available.
