COLUMBIA — Planning for the 2019 Scuppernong River Festival is getting underway and organizers invite interested individuals to join the Planning Committee. “We are always interested in new ideas and new activities to make the festival bigger and better,” stated David Clegg, Chairman of the annual event.

Anyone wishing to participate in planning the festival should be at the planning meeting, 11 a.m., Thursday, April 25, at the Town of Columbia Municipal Building, 103 Main Street. The committee meets monthly until the festival.

The Scuppernong River Festival will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019, along the waterfront and streets of Columbia. The daylong street festival begins with a Main Street Parade, includes fireworks at nightfall and concludes with a concert on the Tyrrell County Courthouse steps.

Whether it is music, entertainment, rides for children, helicopter rides, food and craft vendors, parade or water activities, organizational help is needed. For more information or to share ideas for the festival, call 252-796-2781.
