From Girl Scout Troop 802

Girl Scout Troop 802 celebrated the 107th birthday of Girl Scouts (March 12th) on March 16, 2019 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Belhaven. The five girls attending were Lily Allen, Azahriyah Jennette, Cherrieanne Cooper-Coggins, Laney Brinn, Leah Foster and two adult leaders Dana Andrews and Elaine Hudnell. They celebrated by baking and decorating individual cakes, making party hats and playing games. They also learned about Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of Girl Scouts.

Also on March 16, Troop 802 visited the rock museum at Kaye Lee’s Corner at 413 Pamlico Street in Belhaven. The girls toured the many displays of rocks featured at the museum. The instructor, Kaye Lee Brady, taught them about all the different kinds of layers of the earth and the types of rocks in each layer. They also learned about the difference in hard and soft rocks as well as the difference in rocks and minerals. They received a rock collection and hand outs to study at home
