Kathryn “Kathy” Briley Hooker

Mrs. Kathryn “Kathy” Briley Hooker, age 63, a resident of Aurora, died Sunday, April 14, 2019, at her home.

A graveside funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at Pamlico Memorial Gardens in Washington, officiated by Dr. Danny Robertson. Pallbearers will be Jeff Hathaway, Kevin Bonner, Greg Bonner, Cappy Sermons, Gilbert Smithwick and Joe Pickett.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.

Kathy was born in Pitt County on Aug. 31, 1955, daughter of the late Robert F. Briley and Ruby Pearl Strickland Briley, who survives. She was a 1973 graduate of North Pitt High School. On Nov. 26, 1983, she married Joseph “Joe” Lee Hooker who survives. Kathy worked in several family business as a bookkeeper.

Surviving along with her husband, Joe, of the home, and her mother, Ruby Briley, of Bethel, are her children, Robbie Hooker and his girlfriend, Tammy Walker, of Aurora, Matthew Hooker and his wife, Johanna, of Washington, and Lee Anne Hooker, of Aurora; a sister, Gail Mayo and her husband, Danny, of Washington; and three grandchildren, Willow and Arlo Hooker, both of Washington, and Khloie Hooker, of Aurora. Kathy was predeceased by her father, Robert F. Briley, and her sister, Lori Gaskins.
