One hundred, twenty-nine clients were present when the Saturday Night Jamboree met recently at the Redmen’s Lodge in Washington. Registrar Carolyn Jefferson, Kathy Scrape and Tillie Braddy signed in clients with loving assistance from Joyce Carawan.

DJ Redmen member Kenneth Beacham played music for dancing and listening pleasure. Marlene Sprouse led the activities and made announcements inside while loyal volunteers kept a watchful eye outside. Martha Seighman led the singing of “Happy Birthday” to all clients who had April birthdays, while Joyce Carawan place birthday hats on all the birthday clients.

A prayer was said by Nina Buckman.

Pizza and refreshments were served by First United Methodist Men’s Group. Servers included Gil and Paige Davis, Kemp Huss, Tim Cushion, Kenny Beacham, Elwood Sprouse, Frankie Walker and Marvin Alligood.

Each client received a box of Reese’s pieces, provided by the Jamboree and passed out by caring volunteers Jim and Tine Sadler, Kin Wood, Michael Cutler, Kathy Lilley, Frankie Walker, and Marlene and Elwood Sprouse. A special guest arrived to help celebrate and greet the clients — the Easter Bunny, of course.

Door prize baskets provided by Marth Seighman. Winners were Fannie Browser, Mille Weston and Kimberly Ball.

The next Jamboree will be the annual May prom on the first Saturday of the month, May 4, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. All area mentally/-physically-challenged residents and all volunteers are invited to mark their calendars and wear their Sunday best.
