Thelma Blanche Lilley Woolard

Mrs. Thelma Blanche Lilley Woolard, age 86, a resident of 1634 Terrapin Track Road, Washington, died Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Ridgewood Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019, from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington, conducted by Tim Stamper and Pastor John Mark Windley. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.

The following will serve as pallbearers: Randy Manning, Lacy Boyd, Jr., Scott Edwards, John Mark Windley, Michael Woolard and Rodney Woolard.

Mrs. Woolard was born in Beaufort County on Oct. 22, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Henry Jinks Lilley and Annie Mae Harris Lilley. Mrs. Woolard graduated from Pantego High School in 1952. She was a retired inserter with the Washington Daily News. Mrs. Woolard was a member of the Rosemary Church of Christ. In her spare time, she enjoyed working in her yard.

On May 25, 1955, she married Joseph Louis “J. L.” Woolard, who preceded her in death, March 28, 2013.

Mrs. Woolard is survived by her son, Lewis H. Woolard, of Washington; two sisters, Minnie Burford and Margaret Manning and her husband Jimmie, all of Washington; her loving, little dog, Lily, and her nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Woolard was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Lynn Woolard; three brothers, Oscar, Jatha and Robert Lilley; and three sisters, Nellie Tetterton, Mary Woolard and Lena Boyd.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2019, at Rosemary Church of Christ.
