Annual herb sale (nearly) sells out

HOW DO YOUR GARDEN GROW?: The Washington Garden Club’s annual herb sale was slated for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, but by 11:30 a.m., the rush of buyers cleared them out of all but 10 of the 936 plants they started with. The herb sale is Washington Garden Club’s major fundraiser for the year and supports the club’s beautification projects around town at Harding Square, Brown Library, the Grace Harwell Martin Senior Center and the corner of Market and Third streets. Herbs are grown from seed by Dorita Boyd at Raindrop Ridge herb farm on Camp Leach Road. (Vail Stewart Rumley/Daily News)
