Mr. Charles Ferrell Bennett, age 76, of Aurora, died Thursday, May 16, 2019, at his home.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 18, 2019, at 11 a.m. at White Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church, officiated by Eddie Gurganus. Burial will follow in Cuthrell Cemetery at White Hill. Hunter Bennett, Jace Brinson, Riley Callahan, Colin Callahan, Tom Walker and Tripp Leggett will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
Mr. Bennett was born Oct. 29, 1942, in Beaufort County, son of the late Rufus Lancaster Bennett and Violet Mae Ferrell Bennett. He graduated from Aurora High School and then Atlantic Christian College in 1965. He then served his country in the United States Army. On Dec. 18, 1966, he married Mary Jeannette Weathersby. Mr. Bennett worked his entire career at PCS Phosphate, where he retired as Accounting Manager in 2002. He enjoyed mowing his yard, but most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife, Jeannette Bennett; his daughters, Sheila Bennett Brinson and husband Jon, of Grantsboro; Vicki Bennett Wank and husband Jason, of Newport; his grandchildren, Hunter Bennett, Jace, Macy and Kelsy Brinson, Molly and Mason Wank, Riley and Colin Callahan and Raylan Wilkinson. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Charles “Reed” Bennett, and two sisters, Joan B. Walker and Adelene B. Gurganus.
