Mr. Harold Wilburn Rutledge, age 90, a resident of Washington, died Thursday, May 16, 2019, at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019, at the Lanier family cemetery on Lanier Drive in Washington.
Mr. Rutledge was born in Forsythe County on Sept. 7, 1928, to the late Walter Bernice Rutledge and Mattie Westmoreland Rutledge. On Nov. 21, 1956, he married Pocahontas Rolfe Lanier, who preceded him in death. Mr. Rutledge worked for N.C. Department of Transportation as a sign erector until his retirement July 1, 1990. He was a member of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness.
Survivors include his two children, Janis Rutledge Trimm, of Washington, and Dale Wilburn Rutledge and wife Diana, of Washington.
He is preceded in death by three brothers, William Walter Rutledge, James Aldeen Rutledge and Thomas Dewitt Rutledge, and a sister, Dorothy Rutledge Dixon.
