Arts of the Pamlico is inviting all lovers of art, wine and music to downtown Washington for their recurring Art Walk.

From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Washington gallery owners will remain open to the public in an effort to promote local art. An Arts of the Pamlico event, the Spring Art Walk will be an opportunity for the community to come together for the sake of art.

“It’s an invitation to the community to come out to the waterfront and enjoy themselves as we promote some terrific artists,” said Crystal Holman, Arts of the Pamlico’s weekend director.

This season’s Art Walk will include local galleries such as Secret Garden Gallery, Art on Market, Southern Eclectics, The Contemporary Art Exchange, Lone Leaf Gallery, Sam’s Rustic Shop, Riverwalk Gallery, Art Tyndall Studio, Lemonade Art Gallery and Little Shoppes. Jackie Weatherly-Cadzow’s studio — specializing in textiles and silk painting — will also participate.

At the Turnage Theatre, there will be a wine tasting hosted by Tryon Wine Distributing and live music featuring Wayne Stoeckhart at 6:30 p.m. According to Holman, Arts of the Pamlico will also bring back a collaborative arts project, to which visitors are encouraged to contribute.

“The arts project is a new feature,” Holman said. “We did an arts project a couple years back, and it’s displayed at the back of the theater where everyone can see their contribution as they park.”

According to Holman, Arts of the Pamlico continues to host Art Walk each year because it supports local businesses and combines a love for art and community.

“It’s important to get people downtown to see the beauty of what we have,” said Holman. “It’s historic for one, and the waterfront is a beautiful background. We need to appreciate what we have here and shop local so we can keep it beautiful.”
