Octagon House to hold open house

OPEN FOR VISITORS: Hyde County’s historic Octagon House will be open for visitors on June 1 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.  Volunteers will be on hand to answer questions about the house, which is one of two ante-bellum 8-sided houses in North Carolina. During the 1 p.m. annual meeting that follows the open house, an update on Phase III of the repairs/restoration will be given by chairman, Walter Baum. The event is free and everyone is welcome. The Octagon House is located at 30868 US Hwy 264 near Engelhard.
