Mrs. Peggy Ryan Hodges, age 90, a former resident of Washington, died Wednesday morning, June 5, 2019, in Fayetteville.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2019, at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington, officiated by Dr. Robert Cayton. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Jonas Kessing, Hunter Chambers, Ned Kessing, Don Waitley, Jane Cherry and Karen Ball will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends 1 – 1:45 p.m., prior to the service at Paul Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hodges was born in Columbus, Georgia, on March 24, 1929, daughter of the late George Wise Ryan and Vivian Katherine Hendricks Ryan. On Sept. 4, 1954, she married Harry Skinner “H.S.” Hodges, Jr. who survives. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church in Washington.

In addition to her husband, Harry, of Fayetteville, she is survived by her children, Debbie Waitley and husband Don, of Fayetteville, Mike Hodges and wife Julie Stone, of Apex, and Kathy Kessing and husband Ned, of Apex; her grandchildren, Hunter Chambers and wife Brittany, of Holly Springs, Jennifer Kessing, of Chapel Hill, and Jonas Kessing and wife Julia Abraham, of Asheville; and her great-grandson, Aiden Chambers of Holly Springs. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Mary Hart.
