Mr. Baynor was born in Beaufort County on April 1, 1937, son of the late Henry Carlie Baynor, Sr. and the late Retha Everette Baynor. He was a 1956 graduate of Pantego High School and served his country in the U.S. Army. On May 21, 1961 he married the former Janice Kay Dunshee, the love of his life. Mr. Baynor provided for his family as a welder at Weyerhaeuser in Plymouth and retired in 1997. He was a great outdoorsman, who loved hunting, fishing and working in his garden. He also loved being a handyman and tinkering on anything that needed to be fixed. Mr. Baynor was a member of Wilkinson Church of Christ, Beech Ridge Hunting Club and Green Sea Hunting Club. It was appropriate for him to be a great prankster with his birthday being on April Fool’s Day.

Surviving along with his wife, Janice, of the home are two daughters, Donna Baynor Murphy, of Pantego, and Jena Baynor Neal and husband Karl, of Apex; a brother, Henry Baynor, Jr. and wife Thomasina, of Belhaven; four grandchildren, Ashlie Ivy, Jacob Hardison, Chelsea Wetherby and Jackson Wetherby; and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Baynor was predeceased along with his parents by two brothers, Earl Baynor, Sr. and Harley Baynor.
