Tyrrell County resident BB Hopkins is the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) District 6 Employee of the Quarter.
She is Farm Program Technician in Dare, Tyrrell and Washington counties.
The purpose of this award is to recognize employees who have provided extraordinary customer service within the agency and demonstrated an extra effort to serve customers.
Hopkins will receive a Certificate of Recognition, the Employee of the Quarter Parking Sign, a Time-Off Award, and an opportunity to compete for the District 6 Employee of the Year for 2019.
“BB is very deserving of this recognition and award,” stated Debbie Houston, FSA District Director.
Hopkins began her career with FSA 11 years ago. Her program duties include administrative, farm storage facility loans, noninsured crop disaster assistance program, disaster, farm records, GIS and Highly Erodible Land Conservation and Wetland Conservation provisions compliance.
She also serves as the Acting County Director for Tyrrell-Dare office in Columbia and the Washington County office at Plymouth at times.
Hopkins added that she works with a great team that helps her to provide better service to her farmers in Tyrell-Dare and Washington counties.
BB has been married for 10 years to Derek Hopkins, who works at Meherrin Ag & Chemical. They have two daughters, Sara Sue and Rebecca, both enrolled at Tyrrell Elementary School. They are members at the Sound Side Missionary Baptist Church.
When asked about what she likes to do in her spare time, Hopkins said her children usually keep her so occupied that she’s too tired for her own hobbies. But when she can find spare time, she loves to watch horror movies and cooking competitions.
Farm Service Agency’s District #6 includes Martin, Washington, Tyrell, Dare, Hyde, Beaufort, Pitt, Wilson, Greene, Craven, Pamlico, Carteret, Edgecombe, Pitt, Wayne and Nash counties.
