Casandra Smith Cherry, 44, departed this life on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019, at Wake Medical Center. She was born Feb. 21, 1975, in Beaufort County to Pearlie Ray Brown and Betsy Smith.

She was a member of Christian Assembly Church.

Casandra is survived by her husband, Augustus Cherry, of Tarboro; parents, Pearlie Ray Brown and Betsy Smith Brown, of Chocowinity; stepson, Donelle Cherry, of Tarboro; stepdaughter, Sara Fleming, of Durham; brothers, Terry Smith, of Winterville, and Theotis Brown, of Washington; sister, Tyra Brown, of Grimesland; eight step-grandchildren, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019, at Conetoe Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, with Reverend Richard Joyner officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith family cemetery, 241 Frederick Road, Chocowinity.

Services are entrusted to Hemby Willoughby Mortuary, Inc., of Tarboro.
